Explore the jungle with Adventure Palace
Newer players have been spoiled over the last few years with an onslaught of 3D and graphic intense video slots. For old timers such as myself, we remember the days where a video slot was more than just fancy graphics that were only hiding poor game play. I call these the Paris Hiltons of slots. Pretty on the outside, but just awful on the inside.
Adventure Palace from Microgaming holds a dear place in my heart. It’s one of the older games still hanging around the internet, but there’s a reason it is still around; and will continue to be for a long time. It’s a timeless classic that set the pace for slots today.
It won’t overwhelm you with mind battering animation. But it also won’t let you down when it comes to playing. It does exactly what it should do. And that’s entertain and reward you.
The overall design is clean and based around a rich jungle landscape. It is a bit generic when you compare it to modern games, but again, this isn’t why I play Adventure Palace. I play it for the bonuses, multipliers and other features that set a trend in its day.
It does keep up with modern technology very well. It can be played as both a download, and flash version. The flash version works across multiple platforms including iOS and Android operating systems.
Short game explanation / pros and cons
Adventure Palace has a fairly standard bonus round compared to today’s standards. But you have to remember, when this slot came out, it was one of the better bonus features around. And in my opinion, it is still better than a lot of video slots you will find today.
The bonus is a free spin round. This is triggered when 3 or more scatter symbols hit the reels. You get 15 free spins, where all wins are tripled. Free spins can also be re-triggered awarding you with 15 more.
The scatter symbol also pays out the 2nd largest in the game. If you get 5 anywhere on the reels, you win $22,500 when using the max bet. It will even pay out if you get only 2.
While the free spins, and 3x multiplier are above average, the number of paylines are underwhelming at best. Only 9 paylines are available for play in Adventure Palace. It’s well below par for any slot.
But, this does translate well when it’s played on mobile devices.
Another aspect of Adventure Palace I wish was different is the top heavy payout structure. The top pay outs are big on the special symbols, especially when multiplied. But, the regular symbols have fairly low pay outs. The top payout is only $3,750 when you are betting the maximum.
In game bonus features
The wild symbol is the best part of Adventure Palace. This is represented by an elephant and will replace all symbols except the scatter. When the wild is used to produce a win it will double that win as well. And best of all, it is the highest paying symbol in the slot. When you get 5 wilds, you could win as much as $50,000 when playing the maximum bet.
Adventure Palace is not for everyone. Its age, and outdated graphics may be a turnoff for some. I have to say that I’ve definitely seen worse. But it still isn’t all that compelling. If graphics are a deciding factor for you, this slot will not make your list.
What it does have, is still good enough for me to play. And I would highly recommend it to newer players given its ease of use. Its very user friendly and takes little, to no experience to get you playing right away.
Some may call Adventure Palace old; I like to think of it as aged to perfection.
